About What is the relationship between Abraham Lincoln and Lincoln logs
What is the relationship between Abraham Lincoln and Lincoln logs?
When I was a kid, I always played with Lincoln Logs. I even had the travel kit where I carried it around in a bag and I could just open it and play with it. They were my 'legos'. But, I've always wondered why they were called Lincoln Logs. I know the log part, but the Lincoln part is my dilemma. Is it supposed to be similar to Linkin' as if you were linking them together or is there history with the children's toy and Honest Abe?

Answer 1 :
Abe Lincoln is reputed to have been born in a log cabin. By linking (no pun intended) the name of their toy with the name of a well-liked president, the owners of the Lincoln Log Company were able to sell more of their toys and make more money.
Answer 2 :
Lincoln Logs were invented in 1916 by John L. Wright, a son of the notable architect Frank Lloyd Wright. In 1918, they were marketed by the Red Square Toy Company and by John Lloyd Wright, Incorporated of Chicago, Illinois. While it is often assumed that the name of the toy relates to President Lincoln, it is also a reference to the inventor's father, since Frank Lloyd Wright's given middle name was "Lincoln

Answer 1 :
Well, it's definately not Lincoln Park, but you should be okay. Will you be traveling at day or night? The area around 47th and Damen includes quite a few stores like Value City and Burlington Coat Factory. So, there will probably be a good number of people around if you're going to be close to the shopping area. People seem to think that if they venture anywhere outside of the north side to the south side that they're going to die, but that's really not true. Some of the people in those areas are significantly less "well-off" financially than most of the people up north, but they're not barbarians. Most of the people are trying to stay safe and take care of their business just as much as anyone from outside neighborhoods are and aren't even thinking about harming anyone else.
Answer 2 :
Your better off transferring to the Orange Line & getting off at Western & take the Western bus to 47th St. Damen would be 4 blocks East!! It is a safer route in my opinion.
Answer 3 :
it's becoming more of a popular belief that the southside and the westwide of chicago is not one's "ideal neighborhoods", safe, or entertaining. But that's not to any extent the case. the southside and west are highly an family-oriented (many schools, condominiums, a alot of trees and grass, parks, single family housing, multiple family housing, duplexes, and apartments. That is one of the explainatiions why people are so against or take the southside and westwide into a dim view so deeply. It's not a fun place

Answer 1 :
Nothing. Lincoln did not even understand that word.
Answer 2 :
Lincoln was a racist. Just reference the lincoln/douglas debates.
Answer 3 :
Nothing. Lincoln didnt really care for freeing the slaves, he wanted to send them back to africa.
Answer 4 :
He should ask; 'Should I cry "RACIST!" when asked for my birth certificate?' Lincoln and his Republican abolitionists fought and died to free the slaves. Period. Have a little respect...
Answer 5 :
Don't tell liberals that Obama can't travel back in time. They think he can do anything. That's like telling a kid that Santa Claus doesn't exist.
Answer 6 :
He should ask him why he is so racist. I mean he's a Republican, so by liberal logic he must be a racist
